Portrait of Raymond Hanson by Robert Shakespeare his great nephew

This Portrait of Raymond Hanson was done in 2020 by his Great Nephew the artist Robert Shakespeare.

Robert is the Grandson of Ray’s oldest sister Hazel and while they never met, he has always felt an affinity with his Great Uncle Ray, in particular his creative efforts.

To me this painting illustrates some of the complex emotions and influences felt by Ray that would enable him to create and write the beautiful music he did. We are so proud to be able to feature this interesting work here on Ray’s website.

Many thanks to my cousin Robert Shakespeare.
