Film Music for Orchestra in 3 parts;

1. Joe Wilson’s Mates

2. The Load of Wood

3. The City

Text:  Henry Lawson, Frank Hardy and Ralph Peterson, for parts 1-3 respectively.  Screen play for parts 1 and 2 by Rex Rienits; for part 3 by Ralph Peterson.

The film was financed partly by Frank Hardy, but mostly by Julian Rose, an advertising executive.  It was produced by Australian Tradition Films, and directed by Cecil Holmes.  ‘Three In One” was highly commended at the Edinburgh Festival and won a prize at the 1956 Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) Festival in Czechoslovakia

Bender, we’re trying our best. Can I use the gun? It’s just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you? Yeah. Give a little credit to our public schools. Oh, you’re a dollar naughtier than most. Five hours? Aw, man! Couldn’t you just get me the death penalty?
