Wirripang to Publish from now on !!

Many of the publications listed on this website have been done through the Keys Press Australian Heritage Series. All good things must come to and end and sadly, the Keys Press is no longer in operation.
As a result, we are very pleased to announce that Wirripang Publishing have taken over the Raymond Hanson catalogue in full and will continue to publish Ray’s works in the Australian Composers Series of their own. We look forward to a long and happy association with Wirripang.
Please note that the buy links have all been changed to reflect these new changes. Do have a look at Wirripang and check out the Australian Composers Series. http://www.australiancomposers.com.au/authors/raymond-hanson

World Premiere “The Immortal Touch” Friday 6th June, 2014

I have also received notice that the World Premiere of Ray’s lifelong work “The Immortal Touch Part 2” is scheduled to go ahead on Friday 6th June, 2014 in the evening, with a matinee performance on Saturday 7th of June, 2014 at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and played by the Conservatorium orchestra and choir.
Will post details of how to purchase tickets, where and when, closer to the event.
The first part of the Immortal Touch premiered at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 1975. It was conducted by Richard Gill and performed by the Conservatorium orchestra and choir and Ray was lucky enough to attend this event before he died the following year.
Our thanks go out to all at the Conservatorium for their ongoing support of Raymond Hanson but especially to Joanna Drimatis for her tireless research and help in promoting Raymond’s work and in particular getting this project off the ground !!

WAR ! being set for Carillon for Centenary ANZAC Celebrations 2014

I was contacted recently by Thomas Lau who is the senior Carillonist at the National Carillon in Canberra. They were wanting to use one of Ray’s songs titled “War!” as one of the pieces to be set for Carillon for the Centenary of ANZAC Day celebrations coming up in April 2014 !!
We are so happy that one of Ray’s wartime pieces is up for inclusion into this momentus program and will post details of this performance closer to the event.
As a former Sergeant in the Army Education Corps Ray would have been chuffed at this inclusion and mark of respect.
